Daryl Murphy: 'Target on Ipswich Town's back'

Ipswich Town striker Daryl Murphy has claimed that there is a target on the club's back because of their impressive form and lofty league position in the Championship.

The Tractor Boys have lost just one of their last 15 games since defeat to Norwich City in the East Anglian derby back in August to lie second in the table behind Derby County after 19 games.

Murphy has been in fine form with 11 league goals and is one shy of Nottingham Forest's Britt Assombalonga in the scoring charts.

"We're second in the table and we're there to be shot at," the Irish international told the Blues' website.

"At the start of the season we targeted getting into the top six, as we knew that would be realistic and I think we are showing that with our performances and results this season.

"We've definitely become more streetwise and we know what the league is all about. Teams are coming to beat us and they all know that we are a threat now."

Ipswich could go top if they beat Leeds United at Portman Road on Saturday and Derby falter at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.
