Antonio Di Natale is happy to score against Spain in his side's Group C opener.

Italy striker Antonio Di Natale has labelled his strike against Spain as his best-ever international goal.

The Udinese forward came on as a second-half substitute and immediately gave the Azzurri the lead in their 1-1 draw with Spain. Di Natale missed a penalty in the Euro 2008 quarter-final against the same opponents and the 34-year-old is glad he managed to make amends.

"I am very happy I scored immediately, on the first ball I had," Di Natale told Rai Sport.

"Great assist from [Andrea] Pirlo, I think this is my best goal for the Azzurri.

"I remember the penalty I missed four years ago against Spain. It's nice to score against them."

Italy next face Croatia on Thursday in Group C.
