Bruce Arena: 'Steven Gerrard can succeed as a manager'

Los Angeles Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena is certain that Steven Gerrard will make a successful switch to management.

Los Angeles Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena has backed Steven Gerrard to embark on a successful career in management.

Gerrard ended his Liverpool career to join the MLS side earlier this summer, and after just a few months working with the former England captain, Arena is certain that he will adjust to life as a manager in the future.

"His next step in the game is to be a manager, no question about it," the Galaxy boss told reporters. "He's very studious about what goes on.

"We talk about what he's done at Liverpool and we compare notes.

"He's going to be a manager after he leaves the game as a player. Where that's going to be, I don't know."

Gerrard and his Galaxy teammates visit the San Jose Earthquakes on Friday night.
