Leicester City have reportedly become the frontrunners in the race for Club Brugge' 21-year-old forward Charles De Ketelaere.

Leicester City have reportedly become the frontrunners in the race for Club Brugge's 21-year-old forward Charles De Ketelaere.

The Foxes are said to be one a number of sides monitoring the Belgian ahead of a potential transfer this summer, with it being said in recent days that the club are planning a major overhaul of its squad during the transfer window.

De Ketelaere looks to fit the bill for Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers, and Belgian journalist Alexandre Braeckman has suggested that the Premier League side are leading the race.

Braeckman tweeted from his personal Twitter account on Thursday saying: "Slowly, but surely Leicester have started informal exchanges with Club Brugge for Charles De Ketelaere.

"They hope to lower the price a little in the next few weeks (Bruges hopes for €40m). The player is interested in the challenge.

"Leicester is the only club to have formally come forward so far. AC Milan plans to do the same soon. But the situation does not change: Leicester have a clear advantage on this file. End of contract in 2024 for De Ketelaere."

Able to play all across the forward line, the youngster has scored 14 goals and provided seven assists in the league for Club Brugge so far this season, who are reportedly demanding €40m (£34m) for their asset.

Having also made his debut for the Belgium national team back in November 2020, De Ketelaere has gone on to feature six times for his country in total, scoring one goal.
