John Barnes

A man who would be significantly higher on this list if his entire Liverpool career was taken into account rather than only the Premier League years, John Barnes was one of the greatest wingers Anfield has ever seen.
The England international's time in the Premier League was largely spent in central midfield, though, with manager Graeme Souness believing that Barnes's best years on the wing were already behind him.
Barnes helped a crop of talented youngsters come through during that time, but the team's dominance of English football was on the wane and he only has a League Cup trophy to show from his Premier League years at Liverpool.
In all, 162 of Barnes's 314 league appearances for Liverpool came in the Premier League, during which time he netted 17 of his 84 goals before moving on for a brief spell at Newcastle United.
Barnes's place in Liverpool legend is secure as one of the greatest players to have pulled on the red shirt, but the Premier League era came just as his individual abilities and that of Liverpool as a team were on the slide.
