Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has said that manager Kenny Dalglish is not to blame for the club's poor run of results.
The Reds, who are coming off back-to-back defeats to relegation battlers Wigan Athletic and Queens Park Rangers, have struggled to compete with the top sides in the Premier League this season. However, Carrager insists that it is not Dalglish's fault.
"People need to remember where we were when he took over," he told The Telegraph.
"The club were on their knees. We'd gone through a difficult period and found ourselves in a poor position in the league.
"This season was all about rebuilding the team and bringing a lot of new staff to make an improvement. We all recognise we've come up short in the league compared to where we'd like to be. We wanted to be closer to the top four."
Meanwhile, Liverpool travel to Newcastle United this afternoon.
