A high-profile Uruguayan journalist claims that Luis Suarez has informed him that he no longer wants to leave Liverpool this summer and could sign a new contract at Anfield.

Luis Suarez has had a change of heart regarding his Liverpool future and could sign a new contract to commit himself to the Reds, according to a high-profile Latin American journalist.

The Uruguayan striker's efforts to force through a move to Arsenal have resulted in a public war of words with his club, during which he accused them of breaking promises and breaching his contract.

Despite this, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has remained insistent that the Merseyside outfit will not allow their star striker to leave and was confident that Suarez would eventually accept this stance.

Now, Martin Chaquero of GolTV Latin America has claimed that the 26-year-old has told him personally that he is happy to resolve his issues at Anfield and stay for the foreseeable future.

Chaquero tweeted: "Luis Suarez confirms to me that he will not leave Liverpool. The support of the fans in recent weeks influenced his decision.

"Suarez see it as likely that he'll sign a renewal to the contract that binds him to Liverpool."

The controversial forward, who scored 23 times in the Premier League last year is currently on international duty, but has been training alone when reporting to Liverpool for their pre-season preparations.
