Manchester City's Fernandinho to make return against Barcelona?

Fernandinho could recover from his muscle injury in time to play against Barcelona in the Champions League, a newspaper report suggests.

Fernandinho could return to the Manchester City first team for the Champions League match against Barcelona later this month, according to a report.

The midfielder picked up a muscle injury prior to the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea, a result which ended the Citizens' 100% Premier League home record this season.

Manuel Pellegrini said on Tuesday that Fernandinho would be out for "three or four weeks", which would rule him out of the FA Cup match against Chelsea and the Champions League last-16 first leg with Barcelona.

However, The Telegraph claims that there is hope that Fernandinho could be back within a fortnight, opening up the possibility that he could play some part against the Spanish giants.

The first leg at the Etihad Stadium is on February 18.
