Manchester City 'facing suspension from Champions League'

Manchester City could reportedly be banned from the Champions League if they are found guilty of breaching UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations.

Manchester City could reportedly be suspended from the Champions League if they are found guilty of breaching UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules.

European football's governing body is re-examining a previous investigation into the club following claims that they manipulated contracts in order to circumnavigate the strict spending laws.

Man City were handed a hefty £49m fine, in addition to having a limit imposed on their European squad, transfers and wage bill, after being found guilty of FFP breaches in 2014.

However, The Mirror reports that UEFA insiders are pushing for a ban from the Champions League if City are found guilty once again this time around.

Officials feel that a fine would not have a major impact on City due to their vast resources and that the only punishment which could really hurt the club would be a temporary expulsion from the biggest club competition in Europe.

Pep Guardiola's side have already booked their place in the last 16 of this season's competition but have never made it further than the semi-finals.
