Man City's Manuel Pellegrini: 'Pep Guardiola announcement has not affected us'

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini insists that his team have not been affected by the announcement that Pep Guardiola will take over as manager.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that his players have not been affected by the announcement that Pep Guardiola will take over as manager in the summer.

Three weeks ago, it was announced that Guardiola will leave Bayern Munich to join the two-time Premier League champions, replacing Pellegrini.

Since winning 1-0 at Sunderland on February 2, City have lost Premier League games against Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Chelsea.

When asked about the timing of Guardiola's announcement, Pellegrini told reporters: "Really, that's not the problem. All the players and staff are thinking about just this season. We have important challenges this year and we are focused in every game.

"Tomorrow is the Champions League, after that we have the final at Wembley on Sunday, and on Wednesday we return in the Premier League - it's very easy because we are focusing on winning silverware this season."

City will face Dynamo Kiev in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash in Ukraine tomorrow.
