Jerome Boateng reportedly informs Manchester United that he is not interested in a move, leaving Paris Saint-Germain with a clear path to sign the Bayern Munich ace.

Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has reportedly phoned Jose Mourinho to personally tell the Manchester United manager that he is not interested in a move.

The Germany international has been the subject of interest from the Red Devils, who are desperate to bring in a new centre-back before Thursday's transfer deadline.

According to The Guardian, though, Boateng will not be making a late switch to Old Trafford as he has already made clear to Mourinho that he can forget about any deal.

Boateng, under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2021, is said to have told the Portuguese that he does not believe United can seriously challenge for Champions League success this term.

A move to Paris Saint-Germain, however, could still be on the cards for the 29-year-old, whom Bayern are willing to sell for around £50m.

Mourinho has so far recruited Brazilian midfielder Fred, young full-back Diogo Dalot and back-up goalkeeper Lee Grant this summer for a combined £75.5m.
