Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that Wayne Rooney is likely to miss Tuesday's Champions League group game against PSV Eindhoven.
The United skipper was forced to sit out his side's 3-1 victory over Liverpool this evening having picked up a hamstring injury in training.
Van Gaal said before the match that the injury was "not too serious", but suggested that the 29-year-old will not be back in time to feature in midweek.
"I don't think he should play Tuesday, we don't want to take any risks with our captain but you never know. It's Saturday and we still have Sunday and Monday," Van Gaal is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
Daley Blind, Ander Herrera and Anthony Martial got the goals in Rooney's absence against Liverpool.
