Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw will reportedly be recalled to the England squad as club teammate Ashley Young faces the axe.

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw will take club teammate Ashley Young's place in Gareth Southgate's England squad, according to reports.

Thirty-three-year-old Young made an impressive 38 appearances for the Red Devils last season, earning him a place in England's World Cup squad this summer.

However, Shaw has been manager Jose Mourinho's first-choice left back in their 2018-19 campaign, which could earn him a place in Southgate's squad.

The Mirror reports that Young will be axed in favour of the 23-year-old as the England manager looks to incorporate more youth into the national side.

Southgate will name his squad for the Three Lions' upcoming games against Spain and Switzerland at 2pm today.
