Gary Neville says that Manchester United struggled to deal with "exceptional" Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva during Sunday's Manchester derby.

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has claimed that the Red Devils struggled to deal with "exceptional" Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva during Sunday's Manchester derby.

Manchester City moved 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League courtesy of a 2-1 win at the home of their bitter rivals.

Both of City's goals came from set pieces, but Neville has said that De Bruyne and Silva were allowed to 'influence the game far too much', which hurt United's ability to threaten.

"To me, when they influence the game you are having a nightmare and they influenced the game far too much," Neville told Sky Sports News.

"Have Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera got the legs to do it? I wondered whether Jesse Lingard would go and mark Silva and if Herrera would go and man-mark De Bruyne and stop those two. They are so exceptional those two, they are at a different level. Follow them and stop them."

City will travel to Swansea City on Wednesday night looking to stretch their winning run in the Premier League to 15 matches.
