Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic insists that there is a long way to go in the Premier League title race following his side's win over Southampton.

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has insisted that there is a long way to go in the Premier League title race following his side's win over Southampton on Wednesday.

The Red Devils opened up a seven-point gap at the top of the table over rivals Manchester City thanks to a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.

"It's important to win games, especially at this stage of the season, and every game now is important," Vidic told the club's official website.

"We know that we have to forget the games that come before and always focus on the next ones. Nothing is finished yet. There is a long way to go but we're in a good position."

United continue their league campaign on Saturday when they travel to Fulham.
