Ashley Young happy with new position

Manchester United's Ashley Young admits that he is enjoying his new role at wing-back in manager Louis van Gaal's new system at the club.

Ashley Young has revealed that he is happy to play as a wing-back as long as he is getting regular games at Manchester United.

Louis van Gaal has implemented a new 3-5-2 system at the Red Devils which converted Young from a winger to a wing-back role in his side's pre-season friendly draw with Inter Milan.

The 29-year-old has admitted that he feels comfortable in the role, but is unsure whether the switch will be made a permanent one.

"I'm enjoying playing there," Young told reporters. "The Inter game was only the second time I had played there, but we go through it in training, it's a new system and I feel capable of going out there and doing well.

"I'll have to see how it goes and it's down to the manager what happens because he picks the team that goes out there.

"But whenever I'm called upon, I'll give 100% and if I can continue producing performances like the one in Washington, then I can hopefully stay in the team."

United face Real Madrid in their next pre-season friendly later today.
