Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that winger Ashley Young will play no part in the remainder of the Red Devils' season.
The 27-year-old was expected to be sidelined for two weeks with an ankle injury, which he picked up during United's Manchester derby defeat last Monday.
While Young was expected to return before the close of the campaign, Ferguson has revealed that he will be unable to play until pre-season after consulting a specialist in London.
"Ashley is out for the season," Ferguson said in a press conference. "It's unfortunate, it is a bad blow."
Young has made 17 starts and two appearances from the bench this season.
