The agent of Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has suggested that Manchester United could be in the market for his client after revealing that Louis van Gaal is interested in the player.
Widespread reports have claimed that the 24-year-old is on United's transfer wishlist this summer after Van Gaal was appointed as David Moyes's successor earlier this month.
While Strootman's agent Chiel Dekker has confirmed Van Gaal's interest in the midfielder, the representative has insisted that it is in no relation to United.
"He is of interest to Louis van Gaal but not related to Manchester United at this point," Dekker told The Guardian.
"There has been nothing between the clubs or between Louis and Kevin. They know each other and like each other but at this stage it's not related to Man United."
Strootman, who is currently on a four-year contract at Roma, is expected to be out of action until October with a knee injury.
