Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo 'offered A-League move'

Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly receives his first transfer offer amid the fallout from his recent controversy with the club.

Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been offered a move to the Australian A-League after the World Cup.

In the aftermath of recent controversy, Ronaldo's time at United looks to be up following his public outburst which saw him criticise the club and the manager.

This has led to the club searching for ways to sack the five-time Ballon d'Or winner following his negative comments towards the club.

According to the Evening Standard, the 37-year-old has received his first transfer offer amid the current controversy, which is a move to the A-League down under, where coincidently his grandparents live.

A-League CEO Danny Townsend has confirmed he has proposed an offer to bring the player to Australia which has been lodged with Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes, but no specific team has been mentioned.

Townsend is plotting to bring Ronaldo over where he would be the biggest star in the league and he could possibly reunite with his former United and Portugal teammate Nani, who plays for Melbourne Victory.

"(Ronaldo) said he was not getting any love and respect at Manchester United but we will certainly give him plenty of love and respect in Australia," Townsend said in comments published by News Corp.

"Obviously it is a long shot but we've certainly got a compelling proposition for him here in Australia to consider," Townsend told local radio station SportsFM earlier on Thursday.

Ronaldo is part of Portugal's World Cup squad and is currently preparing for the opening game in Group H against Ghana that takes place on November 24.
