Newcastle United have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer, according to Nicolo Schira.
The 27-year-old enters the final 12 months of his contract in Turin in the coming weeks, and as a result, the Frenchman is being linked with a move away from Serie A.
Rabiot made 32 league appearances for Massimiliano Allegri's side during the 2021-22 campaign, registering two assists but failing to find the back of the net.
Despite the midfielder's mixed fortunes during his spell at Juventus, both Newcastle and Man United are chasing his signature according to the Italian transfer expert.
Tweeting from his official Twitter account on Saturday, Schira said: "Manchester United and Newcastle have shown interest and asked info for Adrien Rabiot with his mother-agent Veronique. Juventus ask €15m (£12.9m) to sell the French midfielder."
New Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is on the lookout for midfield reinforcements in the upcoming transfer window, with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic among those leaving Old Trafford on free transfers this summer.
Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona is rumoured to be the Dutchman's primary target, but Rabiot appears to be a much cheaper alternative should a move for the former Ajax man not take place.
Meanwhile, Eddie Howe's Newcastle are looking at bringing in significant reinforcements ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, with it being the first summer window under the stewardship of their new Saudi-backed owners.
