Report: Manchester United believe Cristiano Ronaldo return unlikely

Manchester United are reportedly unlikely to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of the season due to the cost and the fact that he will be 30 years old.

Manchester United are reportedly reluctant to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo next summer because of his age and the expected cost to seal to his signature.

Widespread reports have claimed that the Portugal captain is open to returning to Old Trafford, where he spent six years of his career before moving to Real Madrid in 2009 for a then-record fee of £80m.

It has been claimed that re-signing Ronaldo could cost United around £200m factoring in wages and transfer fee.

According to the Daily Mail, figures within the club believe that the deal is unlikely to come off due to the cost involved and the fact that Ronaldo will be 30 years old at the end of the season.

The prolific player is believed to have been disappointed by Madrid's decision to sell Angel di Maria and Xabi Alonso in the summer.
