Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke insists that the Bundesliga giants will not attempt to re-sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United.

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has claimed that the German club have no interest in re-signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Manchester United were successful in signing Mkhitaryan during the summer but the Armenian international has barely featured for the Premier League giants because of injury.

He also failed to make an impact when he started against Manchester City last month, but despite his struggles at Old Trafford, Watzke has ruled out a potential return for their former player.

Watzke told Kicker: "No. Any intelligent player should consider in advance what kind of environment they are moving to.

"When you are playing in surroundings where things are working for you, like in Dortmund, then it is quite strange to give that away again once things have finally started to work out for you after a long time settling in."

During three years with Dortmund, Mkhitaryan scored 33 goals in 129 appearances.
