Newcastle United's Aleksandar Mitrovic: 'Wins more important than scoring'

Aleksandar Mitrovic says that winning games is more important than his scoring tally as Newcastle United continue to battle against relegation.

Newcastle United forward Aleksandar Mitrovic has claimed that he is pleased to tot up his goal tally, but would take a victory over scoring.

The 21-year-old has scored three goals in his last two Premier League games, but none of them has contributed to wins.

On Saturday, Rafael Benitez's side looked destined for a point against Norwich City at Carrow Road, but Martin Olsson scored a 93rd-minute goal to give the Canaries all three points.

"I came from the bench, I scored two goals and I hope I helped my team a little to play better football than in the first half," Mitrovic told nufcTV. "In the first half, we didn't play like we want but the second half was really good and we didn't deserve to lose the game, but we lost, and we need to move on and prepare for the next game.

"It's much better if you score goals and you win. I don't need to score if we win games, but it's good for me, of course, and I hope I will continue with my goals."

The Magpies are currently 19th in the Premier League table, six points from safety with seven games left to play.
