Florian Thauvin: 'I'll live up to my price tag'

Newcastle United signing Florian Thauvin says that he will live up to his £12m price tag once he settles into life in the Premier League.

Newcastle United's new signing Florian Thauvin has said that he will be worth every penny of the reported £12m that the Magpies paid for him.

The French international joined from Marseille on a five-year contract on Wednesday in a deal which saw Remy Cabella join the Ligue 1 outfit on a season-long loan deal.

Thauvin played down the significance of the hefty price tag, however, and claimed that once he settles into life in England he will be worth the money.

"It is not a problem for me to have such a high price tag," he told reporters. "I am a footballer and that is my passion and my job.

"It has always been my dream to be a footballer in the Premier League, and I am happy to be here and do that.

"The Premier League is well known for being a very physical league, but it is not something that concerns me, although maybe I will have to take a bit of time to get used to it. Once I do that, I will be fine."

The 22-year-old winger could make his debut for Steve McClaren's side in the trip to Manchester United tomorrow lunchtime.
