Newcastle United draw 1-1 with Olympiakos after a 4-4 penalty shootout.

Newcastle United drew an exciting pre-season friendly with Olympiakos despite finishing the match with a penalty shoot-out.

Steven Taylor opened the scoring, beating Roy Carroll to a corner to slot home.

Olympiakos went down to 10 men in a fiery encounter, with Francois Modesto getting a second yellow card following a rash tackle.

Despite the disadvantage the Greek side forced an equaliser, Konstantinos Mitroglu converting an easy chance to force the match to penalties.

Papa Cisse surprisingly missed his kick, leaving Tim Krul needing to save the final penalty to salvage a draw.

Krul duly delivered, stopping the final effort of the shootout, and with only five penalties per side scheduled the friendly ended with a strange stalemate.
