Nasser Al Khelaifi explains Yohan Cabaye pursuit

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al Khelaifi states his reasons for the club's pursuit of Newcastle United's Yohan Cabaye.

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al Khelaifi has stated his reasons for the club's pursuit of Newcastle United's Yohan Cabaye.

The Frenchman appears to be on the brink of completing a switch to the Ligue 1 champions and the PSG chief has stated exactly why Cabaye has attracted interest.

Speaking to L'Equipe, Al-Khelaifi said: "We went for Cabaye for three reasons: One, [because] he is a very good player. He is very interesting to our eyes.

"Two, I have never met him but they tell me that he is a very good bloke. Three, he is French and it is very important for us to recruit French players at PSG and to bring them back to the French league."

Newcastle rejected an offer from Arsenal for Cabaye in the summer.
