Jay Rodriguez wants more England caps - DUPLICATE

Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez is confident that he can force his way into the England squad for next summer's 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez has said that he wants more caps for England and is hoping to be included in the squad to travel to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup.

The 24-year-old made his England debut in the Three Lions's 2-0 Wembley loss at the hands of Chile in November and has scored five goals in six Saints appearances since the international friendly.

Rodriguez appreciates that forcing his way into the England squad will be difficult, but the former Burnley frontman is confident that he can be part of the squad to travel to South America next June.

Rodriguez told The Express: "It is an honour to play for your country and a confidence boost when you do get selected. It was a nice taste and you obviously want more of it, so hopefully I can just carry on improving and you never know."

Rodriguez's Southampton travel to take on Everton in the Premier League tomorrow afternoon. Kickoff is at 1.30pm.
