Shay Facey signs new Manchester City deal

Manchester City defender Shay Facey signs a new two-year deal at the club.

Manchester City have announced that defender Shay Facey has signed a new two-year contract at the club.

The 20-year-old returned from a five-month loan spell with City's sister club New York City after the end of the MLS regular season, and he has now extended his stay at his boyhood team.

Facey revealed his delight at signing a new deal and admitted his ambition to take the next step in his career with the former Premier League champions.

"I just want to thank everybody who has contributed and been part of getting me to where I am today," he said on his personal Twitter account.

"[I am] very happy to have signed a new deal with the club that I have now been part of for 11 years. I am looking forward to taking that next step up the ladder and excited for the next chapter to come."

Facey played 22 times in the MLS during his spell at New York City, making 20 starts at either right-back or centre-back.
