Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has claimed that new signing Ricky van Wolfswinkel has been misquoted by the Dutch media.
The 24-year-old striker, who has agreed a four-year deal to move to Carrow Road on July 1, recently told a Dutch magazine that the Canaries were looking to bring in an attacking midfielder and two wide players during the summer.
However, Hughton has claimed that the striker's words were taken out of context.
"I did hear the reports and they are certainly not accurate," Hughton told Sky Sports News.
"Of course we will very much look to improve the squad. It is probably quite obvious the area we haven't done as well as we would like this season and that is the ability to score goals and win matches.
"It isn't rocket science they are key areas we would be looking at. Ricky is an indication of what we wanted to bring in - a forward with a very good goalscoring record. Certainly no specific individuals were spoken about or positions."
Norwich are preparing to face Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon.
