Southampton new boy Virgil van Dijk has claimed that joining the Saints represents the "perfect step" in his career following a deadline-day move from Celtic.
The Dutch centre-back, 24, secured an £11.5m move to the Premier League side today as he teams up with compatriot and manager Ronald Koeman at St Mary's.
"I think it's the right time for my development. I'm still quite young, 24, and still have a lot to learn," he told the club's official website.
"Southampton is the perfect step for me right now. It's an amazing club. From the people I've met already it's a very good feeling and I'm delighted to be here."
He signed a five-year deal with the South Coast side.
