Spain striker Fernando Torres praises Tahiti following his side's 10-0 thrashing of the minnows.

Spain striker Fernando Torres has insisted that his side showed respect to Tahiti during their 10-0 victory over the minnows in the Confederations Cup.

The Chelsea forward, who netted four times in the match, praised the opposition's spirit and attitude in the wake of the game.

"Often inferior teams look to break up the game and get aggressive, they play without spirit or hope," he told Spanish television station Telecinco.

"Standards aside, Tahiti showed a great example of how to go about playing football.

"We have tried to show them respect in every sense. We tried to play well, to play simple football, and to score goals and these goals will be important for the next stage."

Spain's other goals came courtesy of a David Villa hat-trick, a David Silva brace and a Juan Mata strike.
