Sergio Busquets: 'Patience key to beating Republic of Ireland'

Sergio Busquets believes that patience will be important if Spain are to beat the Republic of Ireland on Thursday.

Sergio Busquets believes that Spain may have to show some "patience" if they are to beat the Republic of Ireland in their second game of Euro 2012 on Thursday.

The defending champions were largely frustrated by a defensive Italy side in their opening match of the competition on Sunday afternoon.

Looking ahead to the clash with the Irish, the holding midfielder has indicated that he expects Giovanni Trapattoni's side to begin the encounter with a defensive approach.

"If the Irish choose to stay bunched in front of their goal then the key for us will be patience," Busquets told reporters.

"But clearly we are not going to change our style one little bit. If we can get an early goal then that would be an advantage as the Irish would then have to open up."

Spain will eliminate Ireland from the tournament with a victory.
