Toby Alderweireld: 'Confidence high in Tottenham Hotspur camp'

Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld says that his side have "seven finals" ahead of them as they aim to oust Leicester City at the Premier League summit.

Toby Alderweireld has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur remain confident of overhauling Leicester City at the top of the Premier League during the last stretch of the season.

Top-flight action resumes next weekend following the final international break of the campaign, with Spurs currently trailing their title rivals by five points at the summit.

Just seven games remain for Tottenham to cut the deficit and finish top, but Alderweireld - currently away with national side Belgium - is not looking beyond Saturday's meeting with Liverpool at Anfield.

"We are confident in our team, if we keep working hard and at the same level we have been we can beat any team," he told Sky Sports News. "That's not arrogance, it's confidence and that's the way we have to play.

"We just have to focus game by game. It's a cliche but it's the way we have to play. We have seven finals left so let's start at Liverpool."

Spurs saw off Bournemouth 3-0 in their last outing prior to the two-week hiatus, while Leicester kept their own momentum going with a slender 1-0 win at Crystal Palace.
