Midfielder Luke Amos admits that making his Tottenham Hotspur debut against Newcastle United in the Premier League was a "dream come true".

Midfielder Luke Amos has acknowledged that he must keep working hard in order to maintain a place in the first-team squad at Tottenham Hotspur.

Amos was one of the beneficiaries of a many senior members returning late from the World Cup, with the 21-year-old impressing during a number of pre-season friendlies.

The Englishman was rewarded with his competitive debut in Saturday's Premier League fixture at Newcastle United, and Amos has admitted that the experience had been a "dream come true".

Amos told the club's official website: "It feels good, as a kid, that's what you visualise, that's what you work towards every day in training so to finally get out there, it sounds a cliche to say it's a dream come true, but it really is.

"It was an important few minutes as well. At 2-1 up, we're trying to win the game, a big game away from home. It was great to get on at that stage.

"The key thing for me is that it's just the start. I'll keep working hard every day, try to impress in training and hopefully I'll get more opportunities. Some people say it's the easy part getting in, but that's not necessarily true. It's the hard part getting in and the even harder part staying in."

Amos's previous experience of first-team football came at Stevenage and Southend United.
