Jurgen Klinsmann: 'Mauricio Pochettino needs time at Tottenham Hotspur'

USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann calls for Mauricio Pochettino to be given time at Tottenham Hotspur.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Jurgen Klinsmann believes that Mauricio Pochettino can create "something very special" at White Hart Lane – if he is afforded the time.

Pochettino has struggled to adjust to life with Spurs since moving from Southampton in the summer, and the North London outfit have already lost five games this term.

However, Klinsmann, who is now in charge of the United States, thinks that the South American boss needs to be allowed to build his team free of pressure.

He told talkSPORT: "Pochettino absolutely needs more time. He's a high-quality, talented coach. Everyone going to a new club, and a new environment, needs time to get their head around things.

"Sometimes it takes two years and others it can be four or five years. That's a long time for impatient media people and fans but he has all the qualities to build something very special here at Spurs. I hope he is given the time.

"He needs a couple of transfer windows of his own to put the pieces together that he wants to. He has a specific way that he wants the team to play and that's orientated by some of the best teams in the world."

Spurs travel to Hull City after the international break on November 23.
