Harry Redknapp insists that he holds "no grudges" against the FA over choosing Roy Hodgson for the England managerial vacancy but believes that the saga did 'drag on'.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp believes that Roy Hodgson will be a "big success" with England after the West Bromwich Albion boss was contacted by the Football Association over the national team vacancy.

The governing body are due to interview the Baggies coach today, but the overwhelming favourite for the position, Redknapp, was not considered by the FA.

"I honestly don't [feel hurt], I don't get like that," Redknapp told reporters. "I don't hold grudges, I don't feel like that.

"Lots of people would give anything to have the job I've got. I suppose it's dragged on but it's no problem but I just get on with my job here and hopefully we've got a good end to the season to come.

"I like Roy he's a top man, good guy and I'm sure he'll make a big success. Life couldn't be better - the sun is shining, health is good, I'm a very lucky man."

When questioned about whether chairman Daniel Levy will offer the 65-year-old a new contract at White Hart Lane, Redknapp replied: "I don't go rushing in for contracts. If he wants to talk to me, that's fine."

Hodgson is expected to be named the permanent successor to Fabio Capello this week.
