Andros Townsend hopes "fresher" Tottenham Hotspur can clinch top four

Tottenham Hotspur's Europa League exit should help them be more prepared for their top-four tilt, says Andros Townsend.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend believes that their reduced schedule can help them finish in the top four this season.

Spurs were knocked out of the Europa League by Fiorentina last week, meaning that they only have the Premier League to focus on between now and the end of the season.

Townsend told reporters: "It's all to play for and there's no excuses about the schedule - Thursday-Sunday - it's just straight weekend games until the end of the season now and hopefully we'll be good enough to get fourth place.

"We're not complaining. If you want to be one of the best teams in the world you have to play midweek-Sunday, midweek-Saturday, but now it gives us a focus, a chance to train a bit more and come into games fresher and hopefully we're good enough to get fourth place."

Spurs sit seventh in the Premier League table, and host Swansea City on Wednesday night.
