Tottenham Hotspur defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto admits that he has never heard of his new teammate Paulinho after the midfielder joins Spurs for £17m.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has admitted that he has never heard of new teammate Paulinho.

The Brazilian midfielder signed for Spurs last week for a fee of £17m from Corinthians.

However, the Cameroon international revealed that he hasn't seen the 24-year-old in action despite his impressive performances for Brazil at the Confederations Cup.

Assou-Ekotto told Goal.com: "No. I don't follow this kind of news. I don't know what he looks like."

The 29-year-old has been linked with an exit from White Hart Lane this summer despite making 22 appearances last year for Tottenham.
