Tottenham Hotspur reportedly ramp up their efforts to sign Atalanta BC's Cristian Romero after welcoming his teammate Pierluigi Gollini to North London.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to accelerate their pursuit of Atalanta BC centre-back Cristian Romero.

Nuno Espirito Santo and Fabio Paratici are thought to be prioritising defensive incomings for the summer window, with Toby Alderweireld expected to complete a £13m move to Qatari side Al-Duhail.

Romero has supposedly been identified as the ideal replacement for the Belgian, and Spurs have already struck a deal to bring goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini to the club on loan with an option to buy.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham are now set to ramp up their efforts to sign Romero after striking a deal for Gollini and remain in constant dialogue with Atalanta over a move.

The report adds that Paratici is convinced that the Argentine will thrive in the Premier League, and Spurs will have to cough up more than £40m to sign Romero this summer.

The 23-year-old made 42 appearances across all competitions last season for Atalanta, who have an obligation to buy him from Juventus in the summer of 2022.
