Mark Hughes has revealed that he is close to agreeing a new three-year contract at Stoke City.
The former Manchester City coach has been in charge of the Potteries club for two seasons and despite initial protests from Stoke fans, Hughes has established himself in the role.
Hughes has even hinted that he could put pen to paper on a new deal in the coming weeks.
"We are very close," the Welshman is quoted by the Daily Star as saying. "There is a will on both sides to agree to take the journey a bit more forward into the future.
"I see no reason why anything will get in the way of that. I'm very happy here, I appreciated the opportunity to come here and like to think I've repaid that."
