West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke has confirmed that the club have received an offer for Republic of Ireland forward Simon Cox.
The 25-year-old, who scored four goals in domestic competition last season, sat out as the Baggies drew 0-0 with Barnsley this afternoon.
"A bid has been put in for Simon and you know what it's like when something like [this] happens," Clarke told the club's official website.
"The player can become a little bit distracted so I made the decision not to bring him today.
"Things might resolve themselves over the weekend. If they don't, Simon will be back working with us. In fact, I know he's due in tomorrow for training with the group."
Blackburn Rovers are the unnamed club that have bid for Cox, according Sky Sports News.
Cox moved to the Hawthorns from Swindon Town for a fee of £1.5m in July 2009.
