Jonny Evans has revealed that Darren Fletcher helped to convince him to join West Bromwich Albion.
Evans signed for the Baggies from Manchester United in a four-year deal on Saturday and says that Fletcher, his teammate at the Red Devils until the Scotsman departed in February, played a big part in his decision to move.
"I spoke to Fletch regularly. I rang him just after he had made the move here and he said how much he was enjoying his football, so I think that was a big part when West Brom came in for me," he told the Baggies website.
"It definitely had an influence on me, and I was obviously able to speak to Fletch since then quite a few times and he assured me that he was still enjoying it."
The 27-year-old made 198 appearances for United after coming through the club's famed academy, and could make his West Brom debut at home to Southampton after the international break.
