West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce eyes strong end to season

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce urges his side to rediscover their best form and record their strongest finish since their promotion back to the Premier League.

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has targeted his side's best finish in the Premier League since their promotion back to the top flight in 2012.

The Hammers earned just their second win in the Premier League in the calendar year as Diafra Sakho's 88th-minute strike guided them to the three points against Sunderland on Saturday.

Allardyce has now urged his team to end their campaign on a high note to ensure that they finish in the top half of the table.

He told Sky Sports News: "This squad needs to grow, to get bigger and better, but we need to finish this season off much better than 46 points.

"Certainly by Christmas we had reset our goals to make sure we were going to get more points in the Premier League than we had ever done."

West Ham are ninth in the Premier League with 42 points following their win over the Black Cats.
