Wayne Hennessey: 'It wasn't difficult to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers'

Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey reveals that it wasn't a hard decision for him to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers for Crystal Palace in January.

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has insisted that it wasn't a difficult decision for him to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers during the January transfer window.

Hennessey had spent eight years at Molineux before his move to Selhurst Park, but the Wales international revealed that his selection for the national team could have been in doubt if he didn't move back to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old told the Express & Star: "Near the end, it wasn't very difficult to leave because I was playing League One football and I didn't get a game, which was disappointing because I need to be playing to play for Wales.

"Chris Coleman pulled me and said that I need you to be playing because Boaz Myhill was playing at the time for West Brom.

"It wasn't hard for me. If a Premier League club comes knocking, you're going to go."

Hennessey made his debut for Crystal Palace on the final day of the campaign against Fulham.
