Wolverhampton Wanderers 'see £8m Sam Gallagher bid rejected'

Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly fail with a £8m move for Southampton's Sam Gallagher, who scored 11 Championship goals while on loan at Blackburn Rovers last term.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly failed in an £8m move for Southampton forward Sam Gallagher.

Wolves have signed 11 new players in this summer's transfer window, and opened their 2017-18 Championship campaign with a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is still said to be in the market for a new striker, however, with Gallagher strongly linked with a move to Molineux over the last week.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Wolves launched an £8m move for the forward, who scored 12 times in 42 Championship appearances on loan at Blackburn Rovers last season, but the bid was rejected by Southampton.

Gallagher, who has also previously spent time on loan with MK Dons, has scored twice in 20 first-team appearances for Southampton.
