Leeds Rhinos forward Jamie Jones-Buchanan has been sidelined for up to 12 weeks with a biceps injury.
The 32-year-old suffered the problem on Friday during his side's defeat to St Helens in the Super League.
"It is tough for Jamie as he is only recently come back from an Achilles injury," Rhinos head coach Brian McDermott is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.
"I am sure he will tackle this set back with the same zeal he approaches everything in life and will come back even stronger."
Leeds are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in round four of the Challenge Cup.
