Danny Cipriani has kicked Sale Sharks to a 12-11 win over Bath Rugby in the Aviva Premiership this evening.
Cipriani made three penalties in the opening 25 minutes to ensure that the visitors led at the break, but two efforts at the posts from George Ford left the home side just three points behind.
The Sale fly-half added a further three points early on in the second half after a mistake in the scrum from Bath.
Heavy rain and windy conditions made handling tricky as the second half progressed, increasing both teams' reliance on their kicking game, but Ford blasted a chance wide as he looked to cut the Sharks' lead.
Bath applied pressure inside the final 12 minutes, forcing a string of penalties in the scrum, and finally managed to score the opening try of the meeting when Ross Batty slipped through the Sale defence. However, Ford could not add the conversion, leaving the hosts a point short, before missing a drop goal attempt with the final action of the game.
