England Saxons coach Jon Callard believes that Exeter Chiefs' Henry Slade is ready to step up to the Test side.
Slade, 21, impressed in the Saxons' 18-9 win over the Ireland Wolfhounds in Cork yesterday, scoring 13 of his side's points and eclipsing the international union debut of Sam Burgess.
"I'm always going to say Henry Slade's ready," Callard told BBC Sport.
"If the current injury crisis continues with backs, I've no doubt Henry could do a good job for England."
Slade has represented the England Under-20 side on 11 occasions, scoring 102 points.
