Clermont Auvergne have insisted that Vern Cotter will remain as head coach of the French outfit until the end of next season.
The 51-year-old, who is out of contract next summer, will take charge of Scotland next June. However, it is understood that the nation were keen for Cotter for take charge sooner than the agreed date.
A statement from the club read: "President Rene Fontes, his successor, Eric Cromieres, and board of directors have unanimously approved the proposal of Jean-Marc Lhermet, athletic director and vice-president, to maintain Vern Cotter in office for the sports season 2013-14.
"In this context, the ambitions of the club to do better than the previous season remain unchanged."
Scott Johnson will therefore continue as interim head coach of Scotland until next summer.
