Great Britain's Melanie South has been knocked out of the AEGON Classic in a 6-1 7-6 loss to Jelena Jankovic this afternoon.
Jankovic, who is currently ranked 22nd in the world standings, began the encounter the brighter of the two players.
She made the most of her domination by dropping just one game on her way to wrapping up the opening set.
South responded in the second set by claiming an early break of Jankovic's serve before going on to open up a 4-2 advantage.
However, the world number 281 was once again broken back by her Serbian opponent, who soon levelled up proceedings at four games apiece.
Jankovic claimed another break of serve to open up a 6-5 advantage, only for South to break back immediately to force a tie-breaker.
Jankovic took control of the breaker early on with two breaks of South's serve. She eventually ran out a 7-3 winner to book her place in the next round.
